Our 2008 Napa Valley Chardonnay is abundant and vivacious; it opens with aromas of citrus blossom, honeysuckle, white peach, and pippin apple. These vibrant aromas are countered by orange peel oil, roasted hazelnuts, and poached pears with Tahitian vanilla bean sauce. The palate is luscious, smooth, and lively; bursting with stone fruit, kumquat, and Pink Pearl apple Tarte Tatin, the mid palate expresses country scones with warm lemon curd and fresh baked sugar cookies, and the finish lingers exposing notes of toasted nuts and subtle hints of smoke, while being accented by wildflower honey throughout.
Barrel fermented in 34% new, 33% once and 33% twice filled French Oak barrels for 11 months. While ageing on the lees, the wine was hand stirred regularly, a technique known as "batonage," which promotes depth and longevity.
