Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon

2013 Rutherford

The 2013 Rutherford Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon shows a deep and opaque garnet color. On the nose, aromas of briar and blackberry, dark cherry, vanilla, cloves, and leather emerge from the glass. The full-bodied wine envelops the palate with tannin and flavors of blackberries, cloves, and coffee. It can be enjoyed now, but will benefit from 5–10 years in the cellar.

The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Rutherford Reserve is 93% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc, aged 20 months in 50% new French oak. This has a more saturated purple color, a glorious extract and richness, built with a solid inner core of essence that is pure, dark and impressive. Some dusty/loamy undertones are present, but the dark blackberry and cassis fruit dominate this full-bodied beauty. It still has tannins to shed, but this wine should hit its peak in another 5-7 years and last a quarter-century or more.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Our Reserve collection includes only small-batch, single-vineyard wines, ranging from 300 cases to 3,000, sourced from our Winston Hill, Lewis, S&J, and Benjamin Vineyards. We also seek out some of the best single-vineyard sites in Napa Valley and have been known to make incredibly unique Cabernets, Pinots, and blends from these exquisite sites.
