From cascading effervescent pours to a stunning presentation, a champagne tower adds sparkle, elegance, and excitement to any celebration. Whether you’re hosting a festive gathering or looking for show-stopping inspiration, this guide will walk you through creating a champagne tower that’s memorable.
What you’ll need:
- Coup glasses (not flutes – coupe glasses stack better)
- Flat, sturdy table or surface
- Bottle(s) of Champagne or Frank Family Blanc de Blancs
- Non-slip mat, table liner, or drink tray to collect spills

Instructions:
Step 1: Choose the Right Location
Select a flat, stable surface away from foot traffic. A wobbly table is the number one cause of champagne tower collapses.
Step 2: Create the Base Layer
Arrange your coupe glasses in a tight square or triangle formation. The most common sizes are:
- 16-glass tower (4×4)
- 25-glass tower (5×5)
- 36-glass tower (6×6)
Make sure each glass touches the ones next to it for maximum stability.
Step 3: Stack the Glasses
Place one glass centered on top of four glasses below it. Continue stacking upward, layer by layer, until you reach the top glass.
Step 4: Chill the Sparkling Wine
Cold bubbly pours more smoothly and creates less foam, reducing the risk of overflow or spills.
Step 5: Pour from the Top
Slowly pour the bubbly into the top glass only. Let gravity do the work as the liquid cascades evenly into the lower levels. Raise a glass and cheers!
Champagne Tower Safety Tips
Building a champagne tower isn’t difficult, but safety matters—especially at large events.
- Never use cracked or chipped glasses
- Avoid overfilling the top glass
- Assign one person to pour (no crowding!)
- Stop pouring once the bottom layer is nearly full
How Much Wine Do You Need?
A good rule of thumb:
- 1 bottle fills 6–8 coupe glasses
For example:
- 25-glass tower = ~4 bottles
- 36-glass tower = ~6 bottles
Always have an extra bottle on hand just in case (wink, wink). Shop Frank Family’s bubbles collection here.
