Frank Family Becomes a 100% Renewable Energy-powered Winery

Frank Family Vineyards is proud to have recently enrolled in MCE Deep Green, which allows our winery to source 100% renewable energy from locally produced wind and solar power. This groundbreaking program has completely eliminated our electricity-based greenhouse gas emissions.

“Opting into MCE Deep Green was an easy choice for our winery. We’re always looking for new ways to reduce our footprint and carefully consider the impact each of our winemaking and business operations has on the land under our care and in our community. It feels great to say that our wine is now made with 100% non-polluting wind and solar power,” says Frank Family Winemaker and General Manager, Todd Graff.

Not only is Frank Family now purchasing renewable energy, but the winery is also helping to get new renewable projects onto the grid. Half of the Deep Green premium is invested back into MCE’s Local Renewable Energy & Program Development Fund, which helps to install more electric vehicle charging stations and build renewable projects like the American Canyon Solar Project. Launched in summer 2019, the American Canyon Solar Project is currently one of three MCE renewable energy projects in Napa County and its annual 3 MW output generates enough clean, locally-produced electricity to power over 1,000 homes and businesses per year.

“Our winery customers, like Frank Family Vineyards, are serious about sustainability and knowledgeable about energy. They tell us they come to MCE for our 100% California renewable electricity to achieve zero emissions from facility use because it’s the right thing to do,” says MCE Senior Business Relationship Manager, Chris Kubik.

Frank Family’s enrollment in MCE Deep Green speaks to our winery’s “Green to our Roots” philosophy, having been Napa Green certified since 2014. For Frank Family Vineyards, being Napa Green involves earth-to-bottle stewardship including protecting and restoring the Napa River watershed, saving energy and water, reducing waste and carbon footprint, and being conscientious employers and good neighbors to ensure the long-term health of the land, community, and industry.

About MCE
