Spring is a natural time to gather at home—welcoming the season, the land, and the small, intentional choices that quietly shape how we host and entertain. It’s an opportunity to be more mindful, not just in what’s served, but in how each element comes together at the table.
Sustainable entertaining doesn’t mean stripping anything back; it means elevating what already feels meaningful. That same philosophy has guided Frank Family Vineyards for more than three decades, with a longstanding commitment to sustainability and giving back, reflected across a hundrend percent of our vineyard and winery operations. With thoughtful details and a lighter approach, your table can become more intentional, more connected, and effortlessly in tune with the season.

Start With What You Already Have
Before bringing anything new into your space, start by looking at what you already have on hand. Empty wine bottles, for example, can be effortlessly repurposed as water carafes—clean, minimal, and understated, they blend seamlessly into the table while reducing waste. It’s a simple detail that feels both practical and elevated, setting the tone for a more intentional gathering.
Corks, too, offer an easy opportunity for reuse. They can be transformed into thoughtful DIY projects, most notably as charming place cards for your table—an understated, tactile detail that adds a personal touch to each setting. Beyond seating cards, corks can also be incorporated into small crafts or set aside for donation through Frank Family cork recycling programs, giving them a meaningful second life beyond the bottle.
Choose Reusable, Thoughtful Materials
A sustainable table begins with what you don’t throw away. Swap paper goods for linen napkins, cloth runners, and reusable wraps. These elements not only reduce waste, but also bring a softness and texture that elevates the overall setting.
Beeswax wraps can replace plastic for covering dishes, while real glassware and serving pieces create a more considered, lasting impression. The result is a table that feels curated rather than disposable.

Create a Naturally Inspired Tablescape
Move away from single-use décor and let the table be guided by nature itself. Potted herbs running down the center create a living centerpiece—fragrant, functional, and quietly interactive, with guests able to take them home or use them throughout the meal.
Layer in foraged greenery or seasonal blooms to bring an organic, effortless sense of beauty. Think loose arrangements, varied textures, and tones that feel drawn from the surrounding landscape rather than imposed upon it. The focus shifts away from perfection and toward something more grounded—an atmosphere that feels present, natural, and alive.

Cook With the Season
At its core, sustainable entertaining is about honoring what’s fresh, seasonal, and thoughtfully sourced. A spring-forward menu not only feels timely, but naturally vibrant and satisfying—rooted in ingredients that shine at their peak.
A spring pea and asparagus risotto brings brightness and depth to the table, pairing beautifully with our Lewis Vineyard Chardonnay. Alongside it, a roasted carrot and burrata salad offers warmth and balance, an effortless complement to our Leslie Rosé.
Together, these dishes reflect the ease and beauty of seasonal cooking—creating a menu that feels elevated yet approachable, and deeply connected to the rhythm of spring.
A More Thoughtful Way to Gather
Sustainable entertaining at home is less about perfection and more about intention. It’s the quiet shift toward choosing quality over excess, reusing what you already have, and designing a gathering that feels thoughtful in every detail.
This spring, and in celebration of Earth Day, let your table reflect more than just the season—let it speak to a deeper connection with the land, the food on the plate, and the people gathered around it.
