Frank Family Vineyards and 4ocean Make Waves in Chicago

Frank Family Vineyards is proud to continue our partnership with 4ocean as a Certified Cleanup Partner for the second consecutive year, reaffirming our commitment to creating cleaner oceans and communities. As part of this ongoing mission, we recently joined forces with 4ocean and local volunteers for a cleanup along the shores of Lake Michigan.

Held in the heart of Chicago, the event united a passionate group of individuals dedicated to protecting one of our nation’s most vital freshwater resources. Together, we removed 228 pounds of trash and debris from the lakefront, helping to reduce landfill waste and prevent pollution from reaching surrounding waterways and ecosystems.

Lake Michigan is not only a beautiful part of the city; it is also a crucial natural resource. As one of the Great Lakes, which form the world’s largest freshwater system, Lake Michigan provides drinking water to more than 40 million people in the United States and Canada. It is vital for agriculture, industry, transportation, and recreation, making its protection essential for the well-being of all.

Volunteers formed teams to search the shoreline for discarded plastic, fishing lines, and other harmful debris, including a car fender. Each piece they collected played a crucial role in preventing pollution from entering the freshwater ecosystem, emphasizing the importance of keeping our shared waterways clean.

Following the cleanup, participants gathered in the park to relax and celebrate their hard work. Over glasses of Frank Family wine, a casual lunch, and friendly rounds of lawn games, the group connected with like-minded individuals who share a passion for environmental preservation and community action. It was a rewarding and joyful conclusion to a meaningful morning.

This cleanup was part of a broader national initiative between Frank Family Vineyards and 4ocean, designed to foster environmental stewardship and promote cleaner oceans, rivers, and lakes nationwide. Following successful cleanups in Napa and Chicago, we are excited to expand our efforts to more cities in the future.

We’ll be on the move from coast to coast, with stops in Rhode Island, Seattle, Lake Tahoe, and more. Be sure to check our website for updates as we continue to add new cleanup events throughout the year.
