Named in honor of Frank Family’s founder, Richard Harvey Frank, the inaugural RHF vintage opens with soft, silky black fruit, lifted by cinnamon spice and classic Rutherford dust. Beautifully layered and vibrantly structured, it unfolds with notes of cedar and ripe blackberry. Firm, well-articulated tannins carry through a dry, seamless palate to a long, elegant finish.

We wanted to create something special and I thought what is more special than Richard H. Frank? All of our vineyards are named after our grandchildren and our dogs, so it was time to have a wine named after the man who started it all.
The story of Frank Family Vineyards began almost by accident. It was the late 1980s and Rich was in the middle of his 10-year term as the President of Disney Studios. Rich's life in LA was demanding and he was searching for a place he could escape to. He needed a place close enough but one that felt worlds away. Napa Valley was calling.
After a few years of traveling to Napa Valley, an opportunity presented itself. There was a 1930s Tudor home on a hillside vineyard for sale in Rutherford. The views were unparalleled, the house was stunning. Rich knew instantly this was the perfect spot for his Napa getaway. But fate had other plans for him, or so it seemed. A more attractive offer was accepted, and Rich knew he lost something special.
Months had gone by and he agonized over what he had lost. Then late one night, Rich received an unexpected call letting him know that the Rutherford property had fallen out of escrow. This time he was not going to lose it.
The land and the vineyards became known as Winston Hill, named for Rich's English Springer Spaniel, Winston, who loved running through the vines, chasing birds and protecting the crop. Now almost 30 years later, Winston Hill is Rich and Leslie’s permanent home. It is also the heart of our Cabernet program at Frank Family Vineyards and is the birthplace of the newest wine in the Frank Family collection, the RHF Cabernet Sauvignon.
Braised Chicken Breast with Frank Family Port & Figs Recipe
We love pairing this dish with the RHF Cabernet Sauvignon to truly taste the terroir of Benjamin Vineyard and Rutherford as a whole. Many of the grapes used to make this wine are grown just feet away from our vineyard’s thriving fig tree and both fruits express the soil, climate, and topography of the Rutherford region in a beautiful manner. Putting them together on the plate and in the glass proves the expression to be true: “what grows together, goes together.”
Standing Rib Roast
This tender, juicy beef rib roast packs a lot of flavor and pairs exquisitely with Frank Family’s well-structured RHF Cabernet Sauvignon. This bold, Rutherford-designated wine cuts through the fat of the meat and also stands up, flavor-wise, to the delicious, savory flavors imparted during roasting.
Chili with Jalapeño & Cheddar Cornbread
With the spicy, gamey, and long-simmered flavors of this chili, any of Frank Family’s Cabernet Sauvignons are a natural companion, such as the RHF Cab. The wine’s bold black and red fruit tones balance the weight of the meat, and its secondary flavors and savory undertones further highlight the spice of the chili.
